Little Things They Said (This Week April 15-21)

  • Sophia has become obsessed with the hooded towels we have. She runs around saying she needs her “cape” because she is Darth Vader. She then proceeds to breath heavily.
  • We had another “Really” moment while eating dinner this week.  Bill was recounting the story of how, as teenagers, he & his friends would hang out at Denny’s for hours, and the waitresses didn’t like them because they would only order coffee and left crappy (or no) tips. Olivia looked at him and said “ugh…really?” I kind of giggled, and then she shook her head and then said “I would never do that.” This, caused us to die laughing. We said that was good to hear, and let her know that Daddy doesn’t do that anymore either.
  • While talking the other day, Olivia said “Ms. Pacman is not the right name.” I looked at her questioningly. “What do you mean? That’s her name.” She shook her head “It’s just….silly. She’s a woman, not a man. She should be Ms. Pacwoman.” I had no retort to that one.
  • Overheard: “Sophia, pretend to be a backpack!” “Okay Olivia, but you have to be Dora, and carry me.” I had to intervene when Olivia happily said “Okay!”
  • As we were driving to visit Bill’s mom & grandparents, Olivia was looking at the mountains and said “Hey mama, do you think we can go hiking one day?” “Sure baby, we can go hiking!” She smiled and then said “With backpacks and everything?” I guess the girl has a thing for backpacks.
  • We went to see the Easter Bunny last week. Olivia took one look at him and asked “Hey, why is he brown? Every other time I see him, he’s white.” I had to explain how the Easter Bunny has brothers and sisters who hop to all the malls to take pictures with the kids. I’m not sure if she bought it.
